Gloria Chun Named JDC’s Pro Bono Legal Services Director

Gloria Chun

The Justice & Diversity Center (JDC) recently announced that JDC Pro Bono Manager/Supervising Attorney Gloria Chun was promoted to its Director/Managing Attorney of Pro Bono Legal Services.

She succeeds Mairi McKeever, who recently left after 15 years at JDC. Chun oversees all eight JDC projects that provide access to justice for over 6,500 people a year, as well as legal services to non-profit organizations that serve low-income communities. JDC’s critical assistance under her management includes eviction defense, family law, debt collection defense, tax and federal court cases.

JDC stands as one of the largest pro bono legal services organizations in California, each year leveraging the services of over 1,700 volunteer attorneys.

Since law school, Chun has advocated for fairness for all, including refugees fleeing gender persecution, consumers and low-wage workers. Before joining JDC, she had been a civil litigation attorney since 2003. While in private practice, she represented a pro bono client, a domestic violence survivor who was incarcerated on a life sentence, and successfully fought for her release in the trial court and court of appeal. A lifelong Californian, Chun has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis and earned her juris doctorate at UC Hastings College of the Law.
