Federal Judges Help Honor JDC Volunteers

The Justice & Diversity Center, along with 20 federal judges, celebrated law firms and attorneys who volunteer with its Federal Pro Bono Project at a reception in January.

Through JDC’s partnership with the Northern District of California, judges identify low-income pro se litigants who would benefit from counsel while JDC recruits pro bono attorneys to represent them.

At our annual reception for volunteers, judges expressed their gratitude for pro bono counsel who help litigants access justice, as well as ensure the court that all sides have fair and competent representation. A volunteer attorney, Christopher Robinson, Morrison & Foerster, spoke of the valuable litigation and courtroom experience he gained representing his Federal Pro Bono client.

If you’d like to get involved, contact Supervising Attorney Manjari Chawla at MChawla@sfbar.org or 415-626-6917.
