Bowling Tournament Fundraiser is Right Up Your Alley

bowling-stdOn August 10, 2015 the Justice & Diversity Center will host its 2nd Annual Diversity Bowl, a fundraiser benefitting JDC’s Mock Trial Program. Click on the image to the right to download the flyer for the 2015 Diversity Bowl.

The Mock Trial educational program is an inter-scholastic competition where high school students try a hypothetical criminal case provided by the Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF). Nearly 90 attorneys volunteer to coach the fundamentals of persuasive public speaking and evidence advocacy, demonstrate techniques and critique the students in preparation for the city-wide competition.

The program utilizes more than 90 volunteer coaches and approximately 100 volunteer scorers and presiding judges for the county competition. More than 120 students throughout San Francisco are impacted by the program.

JDC hopes to expand the program to include even more schools, including schools in underserved communities that serve diverse populations.

Last year, 50 bowlers participated in our First Annual Diversity Bowl at Lucky Strike. Bowlers raised $10,000, which paid for the registration fees for the 2014-2015 county competition and it also covered expenses for the winning team to travel to the state finals to compete and represent San Francisco County.

Why come to the Diversity Bowl?

  1. It’s a fun way to give back to the community
  2. Compete against other firms outside of the courtroom
  3. Lucky Strike is a great location!
